Quiero sostener la paz
con mis pobres manos de poeta ilusionado,
quiero sostener una paz de largo aliento,
una paz, sustentada en la hermandad de los pueblos.
Una paz en que todos los brazos del mundo se unan
y canten conmigo al unísono:
¡Desterremos de la tierra los odios
y las guerras,
ya basta de bombas que aterran!
Quiero una paz duradera
no firmada en papeles ni acuerdos de humo,
quiero una paz firme
grabada en los corazones y en la mente,
de personas convencidas que este hecho, es urgente.
Los atletas corren por una corona de olivo que se marchita,
luchemos por una medalla que quede grabada para siempre
en los papiros de la humanidad y de la historia.
Seamos todos agentes de paz,
en el trabajo, en el vecindario, en todas las esferas en que habitemos.
Que las banderas de la paz se icen
en el alma de los hombres de buena voluntad que buscan la armonía y la concordia.
En los hombres que ansían un planeta estable y feliz.
Mi canto de paz
llueva por todo el universo.

I want to keep the peace
With the poor poet's hands,
I want to keep a long breath of peace
A peace sustained in the brotherhood of the peoples.
A peace in all the arms of the world come together
and sing with me in unison:
We will banish the hatreds of the earth.

Enough of bombs that terrify!
I want a lasting peace
not signed on smoke papers or agreements,
I want a firm peace
engraved in hearts and in the mind,
of people convinced that this fact is urgent.
Athletes run through a wilted olive crown,
let's fight for a medal engraved forever
in the papyri of humanity and history.
Let's be all peacemakers,
at work, in the neighborhood, in all the areas in which we live.
Let the peace flags come
in the soul of men of good will who seek harmony and harmony.
In men who yearn for a stable and happy planet.
