    Journey to the Valley of the Shadows

    [FONT=&quot]It just happened.
    She entered the valley of the shadows.
    [FONT=&quot]I was watching. As an expectant,
    astonished.
    So unable to rescue her…
    [FONT=&quot]Her eyes, looking vaguely,
    like trying to recognize
    her surroundings,
    blinking repeatedly
    as an unconscious effort
    to awake, to open her consciousness…
    [FONT=&quot]I was watching her
    walking her journey
    to the valley of the shadows…
    Is a turmoil that absorbs her soul
    and crushed her mind into the unconscious…
    My wife suffers from ALZLHEIMER DISEASE!
    [FONT=&quot]It just happened, so unexpectedly.
    Suddenly her brain, the limbic system,
    the basal glanglia, her memory,
    were the target of the evil mission
    to destroy her neural arquitecture!
    [FONT=&quot]It just happened, so unexpectedly…
    Never in my life should I imagined
    Something like this currently happening.
    [FONT=&quot]Suddenly I became a “caregiver”.
    Suddenly I learned about this treacherous disease
    that steal the mind and the soul
    of its victims…
    [FONT=&quot]During this years
    I have tried to handle it.
    To adapt to the sinister changes
    that little by little erodes
    Lucy’s means of existence…
    [FONT=&quot]But I was decided to fight back.
    I had faith
    I had hope…
    I looked into the problem
    I knocked doors…
    [FONT=&quot]We embarked in trials
    and medications, even though
    the disease continues progressing
    slowly but uncontrollably.
    [FONT=&quot]I am watching her
    walking her journey
    into the valley of the shadows…
    [FONT=&quot]Meanwhile
    we remain together
    with the strength of our love,
    waiting for the final stages
    that will end in total darkness…
    [FONT=&quot]Meanwhile
    we remain together,
    and come to my mind
    those moments of our life…
    Moments of happiness.
    Moments of joy.
    Moments of struggle.
    Moments of adversity.
    Moments of perseverance…
    [FONT=&quot]We have the strength together
    to successfully
    complete the journey
    to the brightness of light!…
    [FONT=&quot]It just happened.
    She entered the valley of the shadows…

    But don’t be afraid my darling
    I will be with you,
    I will walk this journey by your side
    Until the end!

    Is amazing how you make me feel!...I think that for me this poem contains a little bit of suspense...'cause the fact is that I SO wanted to know what was happening to Lucy. I'm really sorry by the way (talking about the poem), I can't even imagine how hard this must be. And the idea of changing the name ALZLHEIMER DISEASE to Valley Of The Shadows was brilliant, I guess it feels like we are in shadows.
    It was a pleasure to read you, by the way.
    Hugs, :::hug::: Pemberley Winter.

    [FONT=&quot]Thank you for your comments, [FONT=&quot]Pemberley.
    [FONT=&quot]Lucy has been always my love, the miracle that God put into my path…
    [FONT=&quot]Lucy has been always the inspiration of my heart, the inspiration of my life…
    [FONT=&quot]Lucy has been always my fairy princess, my baby girl, and my beautiful wife..
    [FONT=&quot]
    [FONT=&quot]Together we build a family and continues together through the difficult times…
    [FONT=&quot]I write poetry mostly in Spanish, but I want to share with you some verses that I devoted
    [FONT=&quot]To the marriage of one of my sons:
    [FONT=&quot]In your marriage (Jan and Sara)[FONT=&quot]
    [FONT=&quot]
    [FONT=&quot]Through the miracle of love
    [FONT=&quot]were born a boy and a girl.
    [FONT=&quot]With the passage of time
    [FONT=&quot]they became a man a woman.
    [FONT=&quot]
    [FONT=&quot]Through the miracle of love
    [FONT=&quot]they came together as a couple.
    [FONT=&quot]And through the sacrament of marriage
    [FONT=&quot]they became a husband and a wife
    [FONT=&quot]
    [FONT=&quot]With the passage of time
    [FONT=&quot]they will walk their path together
    [FONT=&quot]to meet their goals and their dreams,
    [FONT=&quot]in the name of the Lord.
