Here is a sample of how to write practicum goals for an Early Childhood Development Bachelor's program.

    PRACTICUM GOALS FOR:

    Student name:

    Site name:

    KNOWLEDGE GOAL 1
    Objective (what you will learn):

I want to learn how to observe, document, and asses a child appropriately.

Plan (how you will learn it):

I will meet with my site director and ask about their child observation procedures.

I will read any material about their policies and privacy matters.

I will ask questions regarding the time and place they observe a child.

I will ask how documents are prepared, whom they are ready for, and when.

I will do research regarding observation guidelines in the State of Texas.

I will ask if I can be present during an observation.

I will prepare a document with the director or the teacher as the observation occurs.

Outcome measure (how will you measure/prove you have learned it):

To know that I have learned how to prepare an observation report, I will present my observation to my TWU professor, Dr. Vadgama.

    SKILL GOAL 1

    Objective (what you will learn):

I will learn the way the literacy center is set up.

Plan (how you will learn it):

I will ask the teacher in the room how she selects the books for the class.

I will make a list of the books that are in the room.

I will research developmentally appropriate books for the age group.

I will ask if the teacher incorporates any books in other languages.

I will ask if those books are read to the children during story time.

I will ask and learn how the children's culture is integrated into the classroom.

I will ask and learn in the children's native language is used and practice in the classroom.

I will observe how the children who do not speak English make the transition.

Outcome measure (how will you measure/prove you have learned it):

To display that I have learned my goal, I will have organized and set up the reading or literacy center for the month according to the respective theme and do a presentation via PowerPoint to my TWU professor, Dr. Vadgama.

National standard applicable to this goal (write full organization name, copy/paste the selected standard in full with prefix): NAEYC Standard 2: Curriculum The program implements a curriculum that is consistent with its goals for children and promotes learning and development in each of the following areas: social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive (n.d).

    KNOWLEDGE GOAL 2

    Objective (what you will learn):

I want to learn how the administrators reach out to libraries, museums, or places to take the children on field trips and how the trip is organized.

Plan (how you will learn it):

I will meet with my site director and ask about the procedures for organizing a field trip.

I will learn the guidelines the school has for field trips.

I will ask and take note of all the paperwork that has to be prepared to take children on field trips, such as permission slips and insurance forms.

I will research the benefits of children going on field trips and which are the most beneficial.

I will ask who funds the field trips and if funds need to be raised.

I will ask questions regarding the procedures for those children that cannot go.

I will ask what happens if there is an accident when transporting the children.

Outcome measure (how will you measure/prove you have learned it):

I will know that I have learned how to organize a field trip by creating a mock-up trip to the art museum and presenting it to my TWU professor, Dr. Vadgama.
