Scar so Deep

A Scar so void of visible manifestation,
lurking in the catacombs of my existence.
But if you perceive where to look
you will see it in my eyes, in the curve of my smile,
and the ever flow of words tumbling over each other.
Could you call it self-inflicted?
If you saw his eyes you would know
the impossibility of resistance and the begged
invitation of his searing mark on my heart.
A Scar so deep, it breathes when I exhale,
reminding me it lives within,
where it holds me captive. Where I hold it prisoner.
This Scar so mine, its very name holds my hope.
Staying hidden until that destined encounter
where I become unequivocally his.
This Scar so red branding our futures.
Worn proudly. Surfacing to be cherished.
Scar so everlasting.​

It was not easy to write this poem. It was an idea I had in my mind for a long time, but with the idea came many feelings that were hard to put on paper and to simplify to just a few concepts when really the words, Scar so, have huge significance which was over whelming in pressure to succeed in creating a poem dignified of its origins. I wrote many different versions, but this one came closest to what I feel. Thank you dear poet.
